Long Business Description

AXIC, Inc. was founded in 1980 as a company to develop surface science equipment for the semiconductor, electronics, and general scientific community. Initial developments focused on x-ray and electron beam analysis of surfaces for compositional and film thickness analysis. These developments lead to the introduction of a stand alone x-ray fluorescence unit which was easily operated by fab personnel for the measurement of film composition and thickness. AXIC, Inc. now produces 3 XRF systems for coatings analysis in both development and production applications for the semiconductor, magnetic, and superconductor industries.

In 1992, AXIC entered the market of producing laser based reflectometers for the measurement of film thickness, index of refraction, and film absorption properties of transparent/translucent films for the semiconductor, optical and magnetics industries.

Shortly after, AXIC commenced the manufacture of plasma tools for cleaning, photoresist stripping, reactive ion etch (RIE), and plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD). Today these offerings include the MultiMode HF8, PlasmaStar, and BenchMark 800-II. Units are ideally suited for research and development and small scale productions. The plasma tools can be configured in various ways to meet the end users' specific requirements.

Eastern Applied Research, Lockport NY, USA
Long Business Description

In 1991, Eastern Applied Research began as a regional service provider for x-ray fluorescence instruments. Technical associates offered on-site certification, consultation, and repair services with a focus on the East Coast of the United States. Those associates realized that most clients were looking for a single source for XRF Technology service and support. So, Eastern Applied added an in-house standards laboratory for standard re-certification and manufacturing of new XRF standards. They also began offering XRF analyzers for their clients testing needs.

In time, through the organizations dedication to offering efficient response times and competitive pricing (an overall dedication to customer satisfaction) the client list grew and demanded additional technical staff be added to support that demand. Expanding the on-site service personal to include representatives to cover Central and Western United States was the next step in the evolution of this complete service provider. Eastern Applied Research has continued to grow over the years and now provides service and support throughout North America - covering Canada and Mexico with bi-lingual service personal as needed.

Eastern Applied's core technical staff has a complete working knowledge of a wide range of XRF analyzer models and the field staff receives extensive training on each model to insure a satisfactory experience for the client. Sales of XRF analyzers has expanded from just reconditioned systems (used XRF) to include new analyzers from a leader in XRF technology - Hitachi High-Tech. XRF analyzers from Hitachi High-Tech are known for providing the highest reliability and excellent precision for a large number of application interests.

Applications include:
Thickness Measurements
RoHS Testing
Analytical Laboratory
Process Control

We previously offered a range of microscopes from a German inventor. We are now no longer offering these microscopes as the inventor, who is now 80 years old, has told us he can no longer supply them to us.
He specifically requested us to remove his name and existing products from our website, which we have done to respect his privacy. We wish to thank him for all he has done in the past including his development work on the series of microscopes we have been offering in the past.
Effective August 2014, Grayfield Optical is now working with the inventor's engineering team, who have been working with the same microscope technology for decades, are considerably younger and fully up-to-date with the latest microscope technologies including the latest digital measurment systems. Our nano-positioning system was developed by this team, for example.
We are now preparing to release an entirely new series of microscopes, under the SeeNano name, which enables us to provide you with microscopes that have all the capabilities of the previous series, while adding fluorescence capabilities and realistic pricing. Development work is progressing well and we have started to get into the costing phase so that we are able to price these new microscopes.
