Welcome to our Special Topic Section on Solar Cells!

Solar cells are of great scientific and practical interest in photovoltaic energy harvesting. Photovoltaic technology can potentially meet the increasing global energy demands by converting solar radiation into electricity with zero greenhouse gas emissions. There are still many challenges to overcome before photovoltaics can provide clean, abundant, and cheap energy on a larger scale. Thus, the challenge of developing efficient and stable materials for the emerging solar cell technologies has stimulated the investigation of a great variety of materials, including conductive polymers, semiconductors, transition-metal compounds, alloys, carbon materials, etc.
