Abstract. This study deals with the applicability of the Artemis Views management software in planning and controlling public works, focusing mainly on the importance of the compatibility with the project so as to minimize risks and reach a good construction performance, interfaced by the Request for Proposals Act 8666:93. A research was conducted on the requirements needed for planning and controlling public works based on the directives established by the ABNT NBR 15575:2013 Performance Norm, concerning the useful life expectancy, the efficiency of materials, and the sustainability of buildings. This study was conducted based on the analysis of the application of preventive and corrective actions provided by the Artemis Views management software aiming at meeting the legal directives established by the Request for Proposals Act 8666:93. The results obtained demonstrate feasibility in adopting the Artemis Views software with the purpose of diminishing losses of materials and increasing efficiency in the utilization of public funds, consequently improving building health. The analysis of the relation between the Request for Proposals Act and the Performance Norm provides evidences that an effective integration of project designs, resources and planning processes increases the performance and the efficiency in the employment of materials, thus promoting sustainability in public works.
