Efficient Polymer Decorated Bimetallic Nanosorbents for Dye Removal Applications

Aysun Savk, Betul Sen, Fatih Sen

Herein, the microwave assisted methodology was employed to produce polyaniline decorated platinum-nickel nanoparticles (Pt-Ni@PANI NPs) as nanosorbents for the methylene blue removal at room temperature via adsorption. These nano sorbents were characterized by XRD, TEM, HRTEM and XPS. The prepared Pt-Ni@PANI NPs displayed highly crystalline, monodisperse and colloidal stable structures. Adsorption measurements represented that one of the highest MB adsorption was obtained as 271.15 mg/g in 55 min, which can be considered a very good capacity. Furthermore, Pt-Ni@PANI NPs are reusable materials for the MB removal application because they sustained 55.6 % of the initial efficiency after six successive adsorptions–desorption cycles.
