We are a recognized developer and manufacturer of next-generation Molecular Analysis Instrumentation which solves the critical limitations of current Infrared technology being experienced by the life sciences and other industries, in the essential analysis of complex materials.
Spectra’s Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR) systems are fully automated to Gas and Liquid Chromatography for analysis of complex mixtures providing high fidelity solid phase spectra for a broad range of applications. Including Polymer & Copolymer GPC-IR Analysis, Polymer Excipient Analysis and General Analytical LC-IR & GC-IR.
Vibrational Spectroscopy, Infrared Spectroscopy (mid FTIR) in particular, is widely recognized as a reliable technique for the identification and structural elucidation of organic and inorganic materials. The DiscovIR couples Infrared Spectroscopy to a Chromatographic system (gas or liquid), and allows analytical chemists and product development scientists to easily analyze and identify each component in a complex mixture. The DiscovIR readily identifies compounds such as controlled substances, polymers, copolymers and can be useful in academia, research and industrial settings.
The combination of two widely used techniques, Infrared Spectroscopy and Liquid or Gas Chromatography, brings a powerful tool to analytical chemists looking to outfit their lab with a versatile instrument for the analysis of complex mixtures. Complementing MS systems, Infrared Spectroscopy hyphenated systems give information that cannot be obtained through any other means. The DiscovIR can be used for a variety of analytical applications, from entomology (insect alkaloid analysis) to proteomics (proteins secondary structure characterization) to explosive analysis (field sample analysis).
The potential benefits of FT-IR Spectroscopy coupled with LC or GC Chromatography include:
Rapid separation and identification of complex mixtures.
High specificity of Infrared Spectroscopy, enabling differentiation of structural analogs.
Solid state Mid-IR spectra, allowing for comparison with commercially available libraries.
No exposure to hazardous chemicals.
In 1991, Eastern Applied Research began as a regional service provider for x-ray fluorescence instruments. Technical associates offered on-site certification, consultation, and repair services with a focus on the East Coast of the United States. Those associates realized that most clients were looking for a single source for XRF Technology service and support. So, Eastern Applied added an in-house standards laboratory for standard re-certification and manufacturing of new XRF standards. They also began offering XRF analyzers for their clients testing needs.
In time, through the organizations dedication to offering efficient response times and competitive pricing (an overall dedication to customer satisfaction) the client list grew and demanded additional technical staff be added to support that demand. Expanding the on-site service personal to include representatives to cover Central and Western United States was the next step in the evolution of this complete service provider. Eastern Applied Research has continued to grow over the years and now provides service and support throughout North America – covering Canada and Mexico with bi-lingual service personal as needed.
Eastern Applied’s core technical staff has a complete working knowledge of a wide range of XRF analyzer models and the field staff receives extensive training on each model to insure a satisfactory experience for the client. Sales of XRF analyzers has expanded from just reconditioned systems (used XRF) to include new analyzers from a leader in XRF technology – Hitachi High-Tech. XRF analyzers from Hitachi High-Tech are known for providing the highest reliability and excellent precision for a large number of application interests.
Fischer Technology, a member of the HELMUT FISCHER GROUP, began manufacturing Fischer products in Windsor, CT in 1979 and has a strong commitment to continuously improve the quality of our products and services. Fischer is registered to ISO 9001:2008 and is responsible for sales, production, technical support and service for the United States, Canada and Mexico with multiple service centers around the country. This type of service is unmatched in the industry for coating thickness, material testing, material analysis and micro-hardness measurement applications.
The Fischer product line comprises of a broad spectrum of measuring and analysis instruments for the most diverse applications and industries. The appropriate measurement methods are used for correct results yielding optimum precision. Whether magnetic induction or eddy current, beta-backscatter, coulometric, micro hardness or x-ray fluorescence Fischer has the suitable technology.
Coating Thickness Measurements:
Whether painted or electroplated, applied to magnetic or non-magnetic materials you will find the appropriate instrument for precise coating thickness measurements in our large product portfolio.
Electromagnetic methods: Pocket gauges, Handheld gauges, Benchtop units, Probes
X-ray fluorescence method
X-ray fluorescence instruments for material analysis:
For exact material analysis, the broad assortment of Fischer X-ray fluorescence instruments (XRF) offers the optimal instrument for any application. Trace analysis required by RoHS, testing of jewelry and gold or inline measurements in continuous production FISCHERSCOPE X-RAY instruments fulfil the requirements in the laboratory and in manufacturing.
Microhardness measuring instruments :
Industry demands that surfaces and coatings are engineered to be very hard, extremely thin or visco-elastic thus requiring powerful measurement methods and systems.
Fischer provides quick, precise and effective measurements of mechanical properties (hardness, modulus, creep, etc.) of micro and nano scale coatings, components, cross-sections, treated and modified surfaces.
The measurement technology of Fischer is sought after and proven when the quality of weld seams is measured in steel constructions or the sealing is determined on anodized facades. This is also true when the coatings are tested on tanks or airplane aluminum structures for fatigue.

Experience, Knowledge and Vision……three factors that were key in developing the low-cost Quickshot XRF analyzer line from QSX Instruments. Using over thirty years of experience in providing service and support of all x-ray fluorescence models, the development team had the knowledge of what XRF users need and had the vision to offer low-cost systems that were simple to navigate for precise results.
The Quickshot XRF line provides solutions to a variety of testing needs – hazardous substance testing to meet RoHS and CPSIA regulations, precious metal analysis for mining purposes or scrap jewelry buying, alloy verification for incoming quality control plus many other applications. From desktop analyzers for in-house testing to our two portable XRF system for the mobile laboratory; we offer low-cost testing solutions to help solve your organizations testing needs economically.
QSX Instruments, Inc also provides the support and consultation that many organizations that aren’t familiar with x-ray fluorescence technology require. As noted by the application versatility, XRF is a technology that can meet many testing needs – with the proper Application Specialists and support team behind the user.
